HEK and the Center for Law & Economics (ETH Zurich) invite you to an evening focused on copyright, artistic practice, and the role of AI in the cultural sector.

After a brief welcome by HEK, legal scholar Margaritha Windisch will present key findings from her recent study, which surveyed over 200 art students across Switzerland about their relationship to AI image generators such as Midjourney and DALL·E.

This will be followed by a panel discussion in which Arif Kornweitz (ZHdK), art students, and additional guests will join Margaritha Windisch to debate current challenges at the intersection of AI, copyright, and artistic autonomy, moderated by Adrian Notz (curator and former Programme Lead AI & Art, ETH AI Center).

From 20:30, a drinks reception (apéro) invites informal exchange.

Optional afternoon program: Workshop on AI text tools
Before the panel, from 17:00–18:30, an interactive workshop will take place: Between Prompt and Practice – Discovering AI Text Tools.
Participants will explore, hands-on, the possibilities and limitations of AI text generators such as ChatGPT & co. Working in small groups, they will try out concrete applications and reflect together on how these tools can be used meaningfully in professional, academic, or artistic contexts.
