DJ-Workshop for Beginners
How does DJing actually work? What happens behind the decks, and how are seamless transitions between tracks made?
In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of DJing using professional equipment: how to mix tracks, what the different controls do, and the fundamentals of beatmatching. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get hands-on and ideally, you should bring a USB stick with a few tracks in MP3 format.
While our regular Open Decks won't take place on the day of the workshop, you’ll have the chance to join in the following Thursday in HEK’s foyer. It’s the perfect opportunity to try out your new skills—or simply observe and get inspired.
This first session is led by Iman Ibragic, an audio designer, psychologist, and art educator at HEK. In her artistic practice, she explores music production and electronic art. As a DJ, she performs under the mononym IMAN, blending sounds from DnB and Breakbeats.
