What lies behind the light, projections and seemingly immaterial spaces of Studio Lemercier?
During MESH Festival, Juliette Bibasse, one half of Studio Lemercier and co-curator of «Thresholds – On the Values We Set and the Limits We Cross», leads two special tours through the current exhibition at HEK.
Bringing together six new works and almost two decades of artistic practice, «Thresholds» moves between immersive encounters with light and water, stark technological landscapes, delicate plotter drawings and experiments with solar energy. Works such as Edges play with geometry, projection and architecture, while Slow Violence confronts the devastating scale of fossil-fuel extraction. The studio’s ongoing Solar Lab research turns towards the sun, low-tech tools and alternative ways of thinking about energy and resources.
As both a member of Studio Lemercier and co-curator of the exhibition, Juliette Bibasse offers a particularly close perspective on the technical choices, research and ecological questions behind the works. Presented as part of MESH Festival 2026, «Infrastructures of Care», the tours open up a wider conversation around technology, ecology and responsibility.
