DAY DANCE
HEK invites you to Day Dance – a daytime rave on the outdoor platform featuring contemporary electronic music. Inspired by afterhours and warehouse vibes, HEK transforms into an open-air club. For edition #5, HEK is collaborating with the Institute Art Gender Nature at HGK Basel FHNW.

Line-up:
14:00 – 16:00: Sloush and Zarrt
16:00 – 18:00: sib3n
18:00 – 20:00: Femme Bass Mafia: Dangermami
20:00 – 22:00: Femme Bass Mafia: MSJY
For the fifth edition of DAY DANCE, we’re excited to welcome Dangermami and MSJY from the Berlin-based music collective Femme Bass Mafia. Dangermami is known for driving drum breaks, bass-heavy club bangers, and unexpected combinations that she blends with playful mixing. With her fast-paced sets ranging from 140–160 BPM, this rising selector has built a reputation as a serious force in the scene.
MSJY’s sets are marked by tempo, energy, and a finely balanced play of shifting moods. As a DJ, selector, and producer, she isn’t afraid to both embody and challenge the script.
Femme Bass Mafia (FBM) is a committed music collective that creates a safer space for women, trans, and non-binary people to learn and practice DJing and music production. Their aim is to support their Adelfs in sharing their vision of bass music.
In cooperation with the Institute Art Gender Nature at the HGK Basel, the artist and DJ sib3n has been invited to DAY DANCE. Active in painting, sound, and performance, sib3n creates genre-fluid sets that move between jungle, house, and RnB – echoing the dreamlike textures of their visual work.
This time, the Friends of HEK community also contributes to DAY DANCE: Marc Bredemeier and Hannah-Katharina Chabbani, winners of the Friends of HEK Open Call for Open Projects 2024, present their project A Guide to DAOs as a performative happening.
To kick things off, Berlin-based DJs Sloush and Zarrt, invited by Marc and Hannah, take us on a sonic journey where excerpts from the guide merge with immersive, soul-drenched soundscapes. In addition to their DJ sets, Sloush and Zarrt also work artistically in the fields of natural and affective sciences – using field recordings, sound, and music to open up altered states of consciousness.
There’ll be hot dogs from Astro Fries and drinks from Wild Wines – all day, till late!
Coming with children or as a family?
During Day Dance there will be a workshop with childcare from 14:00 until 18:00, so you can dance while the little ones are entertained. More information about the activities will follow soon – but some slime may be involved!
DAY DANCE at HEK is part of the Super Saturday of Kunsttage Basel – a joint event by Kunsttage Basel, HEK (House of Electronic Arts), Kunstmuseum Basel and the HGK Basel FHNW.
